Large Hadron Collider & another Big Bang !

Ingenious Minds, Ideas & Innovations: Large Hadron Collider & another Big Bang !

How the Large Hadron Collider worked ?

Scientist from centuries have been keen on understanding the concept of our existence. How the world came into existence and how we had evolved. Where some like Professor Geoffrey Taylor from the University of Melbourne spent 20 years on his quest for knowledge.

Similarly some around 7000 eager scientists from different parts of the globe helped in setting up a circular tunnel around 17 miles and 50 to 175 m underground. Straddling the Swiss and French borders on the outskirts of Geneva. The tubelike tunnels were fit with about 9000 very powerful magnets, and had the capacity to operate at -456.25F. Energy consumed for the time the experiment proceeded was around 120 MW. The Experiment was done using beam pipes injecting 1.0×10-9 grams of hydrogen, which would fill the volume of one grain of fine sand.

Cure for Sorrow

Cure for Sorrow

There is an old Chinese tale about a woman whose only so died.

In her grief, she went to the holy man and said,

"What prayers, what magical incantations do you have

to bring my son back to life?"

Instead of sending her away or reasoning with her, he said to her, "Fetch me a mustard seed from a home that has never known sorrow. We will use it to drive the sorrow out of your life."

The woman went off at once in search of that magical mustard seed.

She came first to a splendid mansion, knocked at the door, and said, "I am looking for a home that has never known sorrow.

Is this such a place? It is very important to me."

They told her, "You've certainly come to the wrong place,"

and began to describe all the tragic things that recently had befallen them.

The woman said to herself, "Who is better able to help thes poor, unfortunate people than I, who have had misfortune of my own?" She stayed on to comfort them, then went on in search of a home that had never known sorrow. But wherever she turned, in palaces or huts, she found one tale after another of sadness and misfortune.

She became so involved in ministering to other people's grief that ultimately she forgot about her quest for the magical mustard seed, never realizing that it had, in fact, driven the sorrow out of her life.

Love or Anger Think Before You Do

Love or Anger - Think Before You Do

While a man was washing his new car, his 4 yr old son picked stone & scratched lines on the side of the car. In anger, the man took the child's hand & hit it many times, not realizing he was using a wrench. At the hospital, the child lost all his fingers due to multiple fractures. When the child saw his father.... with painful eyes he asked 'Dad when will my fingers grow back?' Man was so hurt and speechless. He went back to car and kicked it a lot of times. Devastated by his own actions..... . sitting in front of that car he looked at the scratches, child had written 'LOVE YOU DAD'. The next day that man committed suicide. . . LIFE OF A PRESIDENT - Life of Iranian President Ahmedinejad

LIFE OF A PRESIDENT - An Eye Opener For Us. Doesn't Every Thught of Our Ruling Class Deserve to be Hanged!!

Left over of Islam is so beautiful! How beautiful is complete Islam!!!

The Life of Iranian President Ahmedinejad

The FoxNewsTV ( USA ) asked the Iranian President Ahmedinejad,

'When you look into the mirror in the morning what do you say to yourself'?

He answered: I see the person in the mirror and tell him 'Remember' you are no more than a small servant, ahead of you today is the heavy responsibility, and that is to serve the Iranian nation'.

Ahmedinejad, the Iranian President who astonished many when he first reached to the office of the Presidency by donating all the high valued Iranian carpets to one of the mosques in Tehran by replacing them with the low cost ordinary carpets. He observed that there was a huge extravagant lounge for receiving and welcoming the VIPs and he ordered it to be closed and asked the protocol office to arrange for an ordinary room only with wooden chairs.

On many instances he joins the cleaning staff of the municipality for cleaning the streets in the area where his home and the Presidency are located.

Under his authority whenever he appoints any minister to his post he gets a signed document from him with many points particularly highlighting that he shall remain poor and that his personal and his relatives accounts will be watched and the day he leaves the ministry shall be with dignity, and therefore it is not lawful for him or his relatives to take any advantage of his office. First of all he declared himself for all the 'Big' wealth and the property he owned was a Peugeot 504 car, model 1977, an old small house inherited from his father 40-years ago in one of the poorest zones in Tehran . His accounts with a zero balance and the only money comes in to his a/c was from his salary from the university as a lecturer with an amount of US$ 250 only.

For your information the President still lives in that same house. This is all what he owns; the president of one of the world's important countries; strategically, economically, politically and with regard to its oil and defense. He even doesn't take his personal salary with the argument that all the wealth belongs to the nation and he is the safeguard over it.
One of the things that impressed the staff at the presidency is the bag the President brings with him every day, which contains his breakfast; some sandwiches or bread with olive oil and cheese prepared by his wife and eats and enjoys it with all happiness.

One of the other things he changed was his personal carrier 'the President's Aircraft' to a cargo aircraft in order to save the spending from the public treasury and he ordered that he will be flying with the ordinary airline in the economy class. He organizes meetings every now and then with all the ministers to know their activities and efficiency and he closed down the office of the Manager of the president and any minister can enter to his office without any permission. He also stopped the welcome ceremonies like the red carpet, the photo session or any personal advertisement or respect of any kind while visiting any place in the country.

Whenever he has to stay in any of the hotels he asks them to make sure not to give him a room with any big bed because he doesn't like to sleep on beds but rather likes to sleep on the floor on a simple mattress with a blanket.

Refer to some of the photographs which also confirm the above. The Iranian president is sleeping in the guest room of his house after getting away from his special guards who follow him wherever he goes and photo is taken by his small brother according to the Wifaq Newspaper which published this photo and the next day the photo was published in most of the world's newspapers and magazines and particularly the Americans. During the prayer you can see that he is not sitting in the first row. And the final photo is of his dining room where the president is busy eating his simple meal.

Cricket Player Profile: Mehrab Hossain Jnr of Bangladesh

Cricket Player Profile: Mehrab Hossain Jnr of Bangladesh

Mehrab Hossain jnr. is a left-handed batsman and slow left-arm orthodox bowler, who is a genuine allrounder. He has played twelve first-class matches, and has one century to his name. Hossain has played 12 U19 ODI matches for Bangladesh, and has taken 16 wickets and scored 213 runs. He played in all of Bangladesh's matches in the tri-nation series with England and Sri Lanka, scoring two half centuries and taking eight wickets at an average of 22.62. Hossain is certain to be in the starting eleven at the start of the U19 World Cup in Sri Lanka.

Cricket Player Profile: Mushfiqur Rahim of Bangladesh

Cricket Player Profile: Mushfiqur Rahim of Bangladesh

A wild-card inclusion for Bangladesh's maiden tour of England in 2005, Mushfiqur Rahim was just 16 when he was selected for that daunting trip - two Tests in May, followed by six ODIs against England and Australia - even though he hadn't been named in the preliminary squad of 20. Mushfiqur was principally selected as an understudy to the ever-present wicketkeeper, Khaled Mashud, but his inclusion was further evidence of Bangladesh's determination to build for a better future. He had done well on an A-team tour of Zimbabwe earlier in 2005, scoring a century in the first Test at Bulawayo, and also enjoyed some success in England the previous year with the Under-19s, making 88 in the second Test at Taunton. He showed more evidence of grit with the full team, with a maiden first-class half-century to soften the pain of defeat against Sussex, followed by a career-best 115 against Northamptonshire. That earned him a call-up - as a batsman - to become the youngest player to appear in a Test match at Lord's. He was one of only three players to reach double figures in a disappointing first innings, but a twisted ankle kept him out of the second Test. After captaining Bangladesh's Under-19s to fifth place in the Youth World Cup in February 2006, he also featured in Bogra's inaugural Test, against Sri Lanka the following month, but could make little of the spin of Murali and Malinga Bandara. He remained on the sidelines for the next few months but was recalled for the final two ODIs against Zimbabwe at home in December. He scored his maiden half-century at Harare in February 2007 and was picked as the first-choice wicketkeeper, ahead of Khaled Mashud, for the World Cup in the West Indies.

Cricket Player Profile: Mohammad Ashraful of Bangladesh

Player Profile: Mohammad Ashraful of Bangladesh

On September 8, 2001, at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo, Mohammad Ashraful turned a terrible mismatch into a slice of history by becoming the youngest man - or boy - to make a Test century. Bangladesh still crashed to heavy defeat, but "Matin" brought hope and consolation with a sparkling hundred, repeatedly dancing down to hit the Sri Lankan spinners, including Muralitharan, back over their heads ... and on his debut, too. It was the day before his 17th birthday according to some sources, and 63 days after it according to most others: either way, he broke the long-standing record set by Mushtaq Mohammad (17 years 82 days) when he made 101 for Pakistan against India in 1960-61. Inevitably, such a heady early achievement proved hard to live up to, and after a prolonged poor run Ashraful was dropped for England's first visit in October 2003. He returned to the side a better player, but no less flamboyant, as he demonstrated with a glorious unbeaten 158 in defeat against India at Chittagong late in 2004. Still not 21 when Bangladesh made their maiden tour of England the following year, Ashraful confirmed his status as one for the future at Cardiff, when his brilliantly paced century set Bangladesh up for their astonishing victory over Australia in the NatWest Series. But Ashraful didn't fulfil his evident potential on the tour of Sri Lanka that followed, often getting out to loose shots, and made little impact against the Australians early in 2006 either. An extended run of poor form forced the management to drop Ashraful for the final qualifying match of the Champions Trophy against Zimbabwe. He was also omitted from the squad for the home series against Zimbabwe in December but was immediately recalled after slamming 263 for Dhaka Division against Chittagong Division in the domestic four-day competition. He was appointed Bangladesh's captain in June 2007 at the tender age of 22.

Cricket Player Profile: Schin Tendulkar of India

Cricket Player Profile of Schin Tendulkar

Sachin Tendulkar

Player profile

Full name Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar
Born April 24, 1973, Bombay (now Mumbai), Maharashtra
Current age 35 years 177 days
Major teams India, Asia XI, Mumbai, Mumbai Indians, Yorkshire
Nickname Tendlya, Little Master
Batting style Right-hand bat
Bowling style Right-arm offbreak, Legbreak googly
Height 5 ft 5 in
Education Sharadashram Vidyamandir School

Sachin Tendulkar has been the most wholesome batsman of his time, and arguably the biggest cricket icon as well. His batting is based on the purest principles: perfect balance, economy of movement, precision in stroke-making, and that intangible quality given only to geniuses, anticipation. If he doesn't have a signature stroke - the upright, back-foot punch comes close - it is because he is equally proficient in each of the full range of orthodox shots (and plenty of improvised ones as well) and can pull them out at will.

Though he has adopted a noticeably conservative approach in the last quarter of his career, there are no apparent weaknesses in Tendulkar's game. He can score all around the wicket, off both front foot and back, and has made runs in all parts of the world in all conditions.

Some of his finest performances have come against Australia, the overwhelmingly dominant team of his era. His century as a 19-year old on a lightning fast pitch at the WACA is considered one of the best innings ever to have been played in Australia. A few years later he received the ultimate compliment from the ultimate batsman when Don Bradman confided to his wife that Tendulkar reminded him of himself.

Blessed with the keenest of cricket minds, and armed with a loathing for losing, Tendulkar set about doing what it took to become one of the best batsmen in the world. This was after he was turned away from a fast-bowling camp in Chennai by Dennis Lillee.

Tendulkar's greatness was established early: he was only 16 when he made his Test debut. He was hit on the mouth by Waqar Younis but continued to bat, in a blood-soaked shirt. His first Test hundred, a match-saving one at Old Trafford, came when he was 17, and he had 16 Test hundreds before he turned 25. In 2000 he became the first batsman to have scored 50 international hundreds, and he currently holds the record for most hundreds in both Tests and ODIs - remarkable, considering he didn't score his first ODI hundred till his 79th match.

Tendulkar's considerable achievements seem greater still when looked at in the light of the burden of expectations he has had to bear from his adoring but somewhat unreasonable followers, who have been prone to regard anything less than a hundred as a failure. The aura may have dimmed, if only slightly, as the years on the international circuit have taken their toll on the body, but Tendulkar remains, by a distance, the most worshipped cricketer in the world.

Colombian POP Star Juanes Celebrate Her Birthday in Celebrity Way!

Saturday October 18 2008

COLOMBIAN pop star Juanes was the big winner at the 2008 MTV Latin America awards scooping up four trophies, but as our pictures show it was Katie Perry's performance that stole the show.

The US singer brought the house down, diving into a huge birthday cake, and then sliding across the stage floor. Gene Simmons (right) of Kiss was also a big hit at the show.

Guadalajara -- Mexico's second-biggest city -- was the most adventurous venue yet for the ceremony, which was held in Mexico City for the past two years and in Miami before that.

2008 a Chrome Odyssey

IncrediBILL's Random Rants: 2008 a Chrome Odyssey

a whole bunch of people are trying to steal Google's thunder comparing it to MSIE 8 primarily, which is also still in beta. If Google didn't already have those features coded then they wouldn't be in their initial beta either. It's not like someone at Google woke up on a Monday, read the MSIE 8 feature list, and wrote a whole bunch of new features for Chrome that just showed up in the release on Tuesday, get real. Most of those features were obviously in the works for quite some time but MSIE 8 was publicly known opposed to the closely held secrets of Chrome.

Official Google Blog: Browse what the world is saying on Blog Search

Did you know that millions of bloggers around the world write new posts each week? If you're like me, you probably read only a tiny fraction of these in Google Reader. What's everybody else writing about? Our Blog Search team thought this was an interesting enough question to look into. What we found was a massive mix: entertaining items about celebrities, personal perspectives on political figures, cutting-edge (and sometimes unverified) news stories, and a range of niche topics often ignored by the mainstream media.

My Personal openion to add this feature on main stream of service by Google. As Like the http://news.google.com/ do, Google can ad the 'One Click Service' putting an option on the manue content 'Web Images Maps News Shopping Gmail [Blog]' . I hope google will consider it. When it will place on that row, we can easyly see our search term by clicking on 'Web', 'Images', 'Mapes', ...News' and 'Blogs' ....

Something to Consider During These Hard Financial Times

Something to Consider During These Hard Financial Times

"If you had purchased $1000 of shares in Delta Airlines one year ago you will have $49.00 today. If you had purchased $1000 of shares in AIG one year ago you will have $33.00 today. If you had purchased $1000 of shares in Lehman Brothers one year ago you will have $0.00 today. But if you had purchased $1000 worth of beer one year ago drank all the beer then turned in the aluminum cans for recycling refund you will have received $214.00. Based on the above the best current investment plan is to drink heavily & recycle. It is called the 401-Keg. A recent study found that the average American walks about 900 miles a year. Another
study found that Americans drink on average 22 gallons of alcohol a year.

That means that on average Americans get about 41 miles to the gallon! Makes you proud to be an American!"

Get Good Sniper Fire in Call of Duty 4 - wikiHow

How to Get Good Sniper Fire in Call of Duty 4

This guide will tell you how to be an excellent sniper and how to get more kills in The game Call of Duty 4.  Read on and become a Master Sniper!

Steps

Test out each sniper rifle as they are unlocked, stick with which sniper rifle you are able to shoot moving targets the best with. Recommended: M40A3 [The most commonly used sniper rifle]

M40A3

Pros: High Power and Accuracy, Low Recoil Cons: Delay between shots [Not all shots will be one-shot kills]

M21 Sniper System - Recommended for Hardcore Variants

Pros: Semi-Auto, Good Accuracy and Low Recoil Cons: Low-Medium Power, Most players will become agitated upon being killed by the M21

Dragunov

Pros: Semi-Auto, Medium-High Power Cons: High Recoil

R700

Pros: High Power and Accuracy Cons: Medium-High Recoil, 4 bullet chamber compared to 5 on the M40A3

Barrett .50cal

Pros: Semi-Auto, High Power Cons: Low-Medium Recoil

===Recommend Class for Regular Gametypes===

M40A3 [No Attachment/Any Camo] USP .45 (If you have fast trigger fingers)/Desert Eagle

Perk 1: Claymores/Bandolier Perk 2: Stopping Power [Note: Overkill is commonly used, however the likelihood of a one shot kill is reduced-If using Overkill, a Silenced SMG is recommended] Perk 3: Deep Impact/Iron Lungs/Steady Aim

===Recommended Class for Hardcore Variants===

M21 [No Attachment/Digital Camo] USP .45

Perk 1: Claymores/Bondolier Perk 2: Overkill with Any Assault Rifle (recommended) or SMG Perk 3:Steady Aim/Deep Impact

No Scoping

No scoping is killing an enemy without aiming down the scope (hip-fire)

A typical no-scoping class consists of any sniper rifle (generally either M40A3 or Barrett .50cal), ACOG Scope Attachment, and Steady Aim.

No scoping may save your life in a CQC situation.

===The Use of Juggernaut, Last Stand, and Martydom===

The use of Juggernaut, Last Stand, or Martydom on a sniper class is heavily frowned upon by the sniping community. They create no advantages for the sniper, however agravates the attacker.

Frag x3 is also frowned upon on a sniper class, or in any class in general

Tips

Although these semi auto rifles are easier to use, once one has mastered the M40A3 and the R700, you will find their superior fire power one ups the ability to spam with another rifle, after all, it should only take one hit to kill right?
Learn to jump shoot, although "bunny hopping" is frowned apon, its a very usefull tactic while sniping. Example: You are crouched and or standing behind a wall, and the enemey is a bit off looking at you through it, a quick jump then crouch shot will take him out fast and effectivly.
Most people say camping is okay when you're a sniper, that's completly false. you always want to base yourself on the one spot on kill idea. if you're attacking a group, IE 3-4 then obviously you can try and hold your ground, but people know a good sniper is deadly, and will go right back at him, they do get to see where you are when they die, even without killcam they get a quick glance.
The pistol is possibly your best friend, the degal is more powerful, but when you're raiding a building to get into a position, the USP .45 is really effective, it can fire off all its shots in a matter of milliseconds with a super accuracy.
Do not go to the well known spots. If it looks like a really good sniper spot, it probably isn't. People get to learn these maps and know all the popular positions, as a sniper, you want to go to less suspecting areas. Sure, it's okay to climp onto the 3rd floor on crash and cap a few guys, but it's probably going to be the first place they look when they hear/die from sniper fire.
Remember the second you just put the scope to eye, your aim will be exactly in middle of the screen. After a while, try sniping without holding your breath, this will make you a much for efficient sniper and makes for possibilities like sniping medium range. Warning, may be really hard to master. sniper pro

Warnings

  • Sniping on a map such as Vacant or Killhouse is generally not recommended. However a experienced sniper can easily get many kills scoping at close ranges. Somewhat recommended for Search and Destroy.

DNS vulnerability Found on Current Version of Bind

DNS vulnerability Found on Current Version of Bind

By Joe Barr on July 08, 2008 (8:05:22 PM)

Whether you're running Linux, Windows, Cisco, Sun, or other DNS servers, you are at risk from a newly discovered vulnerability. So says Dan Kaminsky, head of penetration testing research at IO Active, who accidentally discovered the DNS "design flaw" earlier this year.

You can check whether the DNS servers you use are vulnerable by clicking the Check My DNS button in the upper right corner of Kaminsky's Web site.

Kaminsky says he made the discovery entirely by accident. When he realized the flaw was a fundamental design flaw that is universal in scope, he called for a summit of security researchers to decide on a course of action. That summit took place on the Microsoft campus on March 31, and out of it a multi-vendor patch solution was developed. Microsoft, Sun, Cisco, Bind, and other firms will be releasing patches for the flaw today. Linux distributions are expected to start providing patches today as well. Debian users already can find Bind patch instructions online.

The problem in general terms is described as insufficient randomness. Vendors have tried to deliver the fix in a way that can't be reverse-engineered to reveal the actual flaw. Full details on the flaw will not be revealed for 30 days, in order to allow system administrators time to evaluate and apply patches to their DNS servers. DNS clients are also at risk, but to a much smaller degree, and the focus at present continues to be on DNS servers.

According to Kaminsky, the rule for applying patches for this flaw should be, "If it recurses, patch it."

BdNews24: GrameenPhone Fined Tk 250 crore: BTRC: "GrameenPhone Fined Tk 250 crore: Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC)

Fri, Aug 15th, 2008 1:42 am BdST

Dhaka, Aug 14 (bdnews24.com) -- BTRC has fined Grameenphone Tk 250 crore for illegal VoIP business, the second time the country's largest mobile phone operator has been penalised for such rogue activities, the telecoms regulators announced Thursday.

GP's directer of information Syed Yamin Bakht told bdnews24.com that the company had received notice of the fine and had already made a payment.

Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission said the Tk 250 crore financial penalty came as GP provided E1 connectivity to third parties enabling the use of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP).

BTRC launched a full investigation and confirmed the company's illegal VoIP connectivities after suspicions arose in January this year, the statement said.

In 2007, GP paid a fine of Tk 168.40 crore for similar offences.

BTRC said it hoped telecommunication operators would refrain from facilitating illegal VoIP ventures, directly or indirectly.

'The operators are expected to cooperate with the government to prevent such activities in the future,' the statement quoted BTRC chief Manzurul Alam as saying.

The BTRC chairman added that no-one will be spared if found involved in any ca"

Google AdSense: Showing clicks but no earnings?

Inside AdSense: Seeing clicks but no revenue?

Have you ever checked your reports and noticed that you have clicks reported, but no revenue? We'd like to explain why this may happen, as we frequently receive emails and questions on our Help Forum about this issue. What you're seeing may be due to one of the following:

  1. Allowed Sites setup

The Allowed Sites feature allows you to specify a list of sites where ads from your account may be displayed. If you're using this feature, you'll need to make sure that you've listed all sites where you'd like to display your AdSense ad code.

To check if this is the case, log into your account and visit the 'Allowed Sites' page under your AdSense Setup tab. If the radio button 'Allow any site to show ads for my account ' is populated, you're not being affected by this issue, and you should continue to #2 below. However, if 'Only allow certain sites to show ads for my account' is populated, review the list of sites in the box below -- are all the sites you own listed in this box? If the answer is 'no', you won't be credited for clicks on the missing sites. Please be sure to add all of the sites where you'd like to display your AdSense ad code.

We've noticed some confusion among publishers who have entered the sites of advertisers they'd like to see on their pages into the Allowed Sites list. Please know that this is not the case, as it's not possible to request ads for a particular page - the sites you enter into this box can only be sites where your ads can be placed.

  2. Invalid clicks

It's possible that you have some clicks that our monitoring system has considered to be invalid. As we've mentioned before, we monitor all clicks and impressions on Google ads for any activity that may artificially drive up an advertiser's costs or a publisher's earnings. Any clicks that our system considers invalid will still appear on your 'Overview' page, under the Reports tab. However, because our advertisers aren't charged for these clicks and impressions, we won't show the earnings for this activity. If you're concerned about suspicious activity in your account, we recommend reviewing your site's logs and letting us know about the situation.

Rest assured that AdSense accounts are properly credited for all clicks and impressions we consider to be valid. We'll post your finalized earnings for a given month on your 'Payment History' page during the first week of the following month. For more information about invalid clicks, please review our Help Center.

suite, locking them out of their accounts for about 15 hours on
Wednesday and early Thursday.

Google first acknowledged the problem in the official discussion
forums for Gmail and Google Apps shortly after 2 p.m. U.S. Eastern
Time on Wednesday and declared the problem solved at almost 5 a.m. on
Thursday.

A Google official posting status updates on the Apps forum wrote that
the problem affected "a small subset" of Apps users, without being
more specific.

More than 500,000 businesses and universities with about 10 million
active users have signed up for the free and fee-based versions of
Google Apps.

The problem, which also affected stand-alone users of Gmail, made it
impossible for users to log in to their accounts. They got a "502
Server Error" message when they tried to log in.

In the main Google Apps Discussion Group thread devoted to this
incident, administrators complained loudly about the length of the
outage and the lack of status update details offered by Google
officials.

A "502" error hit Gmail on July 16 as well, and also led to a long
outage for affected users, according to postings in the discussion
forums.

A day before this week's problem struck, Dave Girouard, president of
Google's Enterprise unit, talked up Google Apps at the Pacific Crest
Technology Leadership Forum.

Girouard said Google has big plans to aggressively expand the
features and capabilities of the suite, while keeping the price of
the Premier fee-based version at US$50 per-user annually.

Google, Salesforce.com, IBM, Amazon, Hewlett-Packard and other major
vendors are big backers of cloud computing and the software-as-a-
service (SaaS) model for delivering applications and computing
resources via the Internet.

However, outages that leave users without access to such a basic
business tool as e-mail for extended periods of time spook business
and IT managers considering Web hosted software like Google Apps and
cloud computing offers like Amazon Web Services.

When something goes wrong with the hardware or software in the
vendors' data centers and the performance and availability of the
software or computing services are affected, there is little that IT
and business managers can do but wait for the problem to be solved,
while their end users complain and demand information and solutions
that are out of the IT department's reach.

"Seriously...It has been two hours. Can you provide us with another
update? For a company with your reputation, I'm absolutely shocked at
the apparent absence of customer service," wrote a Google Apps
administrator on the discussion forum on Wednesday. "This amount of
down time is unacceptable."

Transcom Media - Prothom Alo - The Daily Star - Shaptahik 2000 - Anandadhara : [BANGLA-IT] When the media turns into evil

Nagative Blog Post About Transcom Media - Prothom Alo, The Daily Star, Shaptahik 2000, Anandadhara and an upcoming FM Radio Station: [BANGLA-IT] When the media turns into evil

Author: Sunita Paul

Media can play important role in up building a nation, while the same media, being influenced by evil forces or vested interest, could turn into devastating element for any nation. Take the example of Bangladesh's leading media group named Transcom Media, which owns a vernacular daily newspaper named Prothom Alo, an English language daily named The Daily Star, two periodicals named Shaptahik 2000 and Anandadhara. Recently the group has acquired ownership of an FM radio station named 'Aina Broadcasting Corporation' (ABC). The group is rather known as 'Daily Star Group' in Bangladesh, because of tremendous influence of its English language daily as well as its top most position amongst all competitor dailies.

Before going into notoriety of Daily Star group, let me first put focus at the back ground of the emergence of this business-media group. During early nineties, present owners of 'Star Group' turned financially bankrupt when its main figure Latifur Rahman's paternal property W Rahman Jute Mills at country's Chandpur district had to declare lay-off thus leaving thousands of workers and labors unemployed. Numerous cases were filed with the Chandpur district labor and criminal courts against Latifur Rahman and other members of the factory, as they defaulted payment of worker's wages. On the other hand, W Rahman Jute Mills was listed as one of the top defaulting enterprises with Bangladesh Bank (Central Bank) for long standing loans.

But, luck started moving in positive direction, when Latifur Rahman's wife's cousin Anup Chetia (leader of ULFA separatist group) came forward with hidden help of finance in businesses in Bangladesh through Rahman. It is learnt that a few million dollars were placed with Latifur Rahman in re-organizing his collapsed business and ULFA kept a secret stake of shares in all businesses initiated by Latifur Rahman after receipt of this secret fund.

Latifur Rahman understanding his failure in running industrial enterprise profitably launched a company named Transcom, which began businesses as the sole distributor of Nestle brand milk products in Bangladesh. Initial response although was very poor from the local market, due to solid financial back up from ULFA, Latifur Rahman managed to ultimately penetrate in the business and in few years, Transcom emerged as one of the mightiest enterprises in Bangladesh. Meanwhile, when Dhaka's well respected journalist S M Ali took the initiative of launching an English language newspaper, Latifur was suggested by ULFA to buy shares, as such investment would buy media influence for the separatist group, which fights against Indian government in separating seven North-Eastern states within India.

S M Ali was successful in placing Daily Star at the forefront of Dhaka's English press, because of his extra-ordinary qualities and courage. Just in few years, this newly launched newspaper sub sided most of the competitor dailies such as Bangladesh Observer, Bangladesh Times (now defunct), New Nation, Morning Sun (now defunct) and Financial Express. But sudden demise of S M Ali opened the opportunity for Latifur Rahman to swallow the newspaper. He brought Mahfuz Anam as the editor of the newspaper, who subsequently ousted ancestors of S M Ali and grabbed his shares. This was the beginning of notorious journey of Daily Star group.

Later, when Anup Chetia was arrested by Bangladeshi law enforcing agencies, Latifur Rahman stopped paying any share to ULFA. This was the first beginning of feud between notorious ULFA separatists and Latifur Rahman. It is widely rumored in Dhaka that, ULFA had hidden hands behind murder of Latifur's daughter Shazneed Rahman, who was brutally raped and murdered right inside her residence at Dhaka's posh Gulshan area.

But, the handsome investment from ULFA, gave Transcom an excellent opportunity to grow. Latifur decided to launch a vernacular daily newspaper with the initial capital of 10 million Taka in 1997. Prothom Alo recruited large number of top newsmen from Dhaka's press community. It also had dynamic Matiur Rahman as its editor, which helped the newspaper to rapidly turn into one of the leading dailies in the country. Later two vernacular periodicals were also launched by this group, one with celebrated journalist Shahadat Chowdhury as its editor.

In some years, Transcom group acquired ownership of Pepsi, Phillips and several large industrial enterprises. Luck always clicked in favor of this business group, as far as its investments in media was concerned. None of the newspapers, belonging to Transcom group had ever faced any financial adversity.

Due to such influential ownership of media projects, Latifur Rahman got the excellent opportunity of continuing various illegal businesses including import of goods from abroad under false declaration. Several consignments imported by Transcom were stopped by customs officials in Bangladesh and evidence of revenue evasion of millions of Taka was unearthed. But, everything was managed, by using the influence of Prothom Alo and Daily Star. Even after the political changes in Bangladesh on January 11, 2007, Daily Star group managed to send its Executive Editor Syed Fahim Munayem as the Press Secretary to the Chief Executive of the interim government. Even at later stage, when Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) issued notice on Latifur Rahman asking declaration of his wealth and assets, the entire issue was some how put into suppression with the help of Daily Star-Prothom Alo group.

Everyone knows the news about cracks in Jamuna Multi-purpose Bridge in Bangladesh. But, possibly no one knows the fact that the main reason behind such cracks was due to use of a particular brand of cement, which in the name of Portland Grey Cement is in fact fly ash mixed lowest grade cement. And, this inferior quality of cement went into various high cost projects in Bangladesh just because; chairman of the company producing and marketing this brand is none but Transcom's Latifur Rahman. No one in the government dares to utter even a single word about Holcim, which supplied such cement to various projects, as they are afraid of wrath of Daily Star and Prothom Alo. Despite the fact that, both the newspapers are largest in circulation in Bangladesh, main purpose of these publications is serving the interests of Corporate Crime.

Prime intention of Daily Star group is to stand against various business groups, whenever there is any business rivalry with that specific company or individual. This group went into heinous propaganda against Beximco Group, Bashundhara Group and many others in past. There is even clean track record of dubious behavior of this group is sabotaging various projects in Bangladesh, with the ulterior motive of either supporting businesses of Latifur Rahman, Transcom or members of this syndicate.

Many projects were already sabotaged by this group, thus causing tremendous loss to Bangladesh's economy. The latest episode of such rivalry of Daily Star group was with Bangladesh's lone hard rock mining project at country's Dinazpur district. Maddhyapara Hard Rock Mining Project (MHMP) became a pray of Daily Star for past several years. It is learnt that, some vested interest groups, including importers of stones and stone-chips from India, Myanmar and Malaysia are patronizing such media terror by Star, thus attempting to sabotage country's most prospective project, which not only is already saving millions of dollars, but, also is set to turn into a huge prospect of earning millions of dollars from export of world-class Granite Tiles.

First rivalry with the MHMP began when Bangladesh government appointed Polish consulting firm Kopex SA, defying the fact that this firm had no experience of hard rock mining. It is learnt that, appointment of this Polish firm was a result of heavy persuasion from some high level corrupt bureaucrats in the Energy Ministry and Petrobangla. From the very appointment, the Polish consultant had been frantically trying to sabotage the project for reason unknown.

In June 2006, Kopex SA submitted a paper with the Energy and Mineral Resources Division saying, "Maddhyapara Hard Rock Mining project has become 'virtually sick' and the employer (the government) has suffered huge financial loss."

It said Petrobangla and the project authorities, Madhyapara Granite Mining Company Limited, should ask Nam-Nam for final commissioning and test production immediately to ascertain the actual status of mine development.

"The Petrobangla and MGMCL should take over the mine after ascertaining its actual state and on documentation to establish the legal ownership of the mine," it said.

Kopex said, "The Nam-Nam has complemented major installation of the mine in over 12 years but they have not yet done the final commissioning and test run although the original development period of the mine was 6.5 years since the signing of the agreement between Petrobangla and the company in 1994."

Sources in Petrobangla, however, ditched the Kopex report, saying that the consultant should also be held responsible for the delay as it failed to come up with proper plan.

"Kopex also wants to be involved more with the mine for which it came up with such a report," Petrobangla source added.

Meanwhile, on October 15, 2005, The Daily Star published a front page news item titled 'North Korean company looks for legal coverage to finish task'. In this report, Daily Star said, "When completed, the Maddyapara hard rock mine will commercially sell 1.65 million tonnes of granite a year. The country annually imports 3.4 million tonnes of granite. Local production will save between $38 million to $58 million US dollars. The project has a life span of 45 years. However, the price of Maddhyapara granite will not be cheaper than the rocks that are commonly imported from India because of the increased project cost"

It was clearly understood that the report was published with the very intention of killing the project to protect the interest of importers-exporters syndicate, which enjoys business of millions of dollars every year by continuing to import stone from India and other countries. In this report, Daily Star claimed that the cost of production of MHMP hark rock was higher than imported one, which is nothing but a clean deviation from truth. It is learnt from dependable sources that, production cost for each tons of hard rock from Maddhyapara project stands at US$ 10 while the minimum import cost is US$ 22.

On May 18, 2006, Daily Star once again published a front page report titled "Petrobangla to take it over from DPRK firm", where it repeated the same lie on the price of the locally extorted hard rock. It said, "Maddhyapara granite will however not be cheaper than the rocks that are commonly imported from India because of the increased project cost."

Nam-Nam Corporation successfully completed and handed over the project in May last year and meanwhile; commercial production in the project is already going on. Due to timely steps taken by the present government in Dhaka, locally produced stones are purchased and used in various domestic projects on priority basis, while the cost of local stones are more than half the cost of imported ones. Being totally frustrated at the completion of the project, vested interest groups once again managed to published another front page report in The daily Star on May 16, 2008 titled "Miner now wants return of non-existent loans".

In this report, Daily Star wrote, "Nam-nam is now operating the mine with 65 South Koreans under a one-year service contract due to expire on May 27. As it did not fully transfer the South Korean technology to the MGMCL, it will get yet another year's service contract, the sources said."

This part of the news shows two things. One, the reporter knows nothing of the project but was writing thing being dictated by vested interest groups. In the same news, while the reporter said Nam-Nam is a North Korean company, how he could discover 65 South Koreans in the project (does he lack the minimum knowledge that North and South Korea do not have any diplomatic relations as yet?). The reporter also said that, Nam-Nam is not fully transferring South Korean technology to MGMCL. Ridiculous, who edits and passes such rubbish news in Daily Star? Being Dhaka's leading dailies, it should be ashamed of such poor journalistic quality. The entire report as well as all previous reports is part of propaganda and conspiracy to kill the entire project, which stands as the most prospective one for Bangladesh. Anyone can easily understand that, vested interest groups, including enemies of North Korea are patronizing such dangerous campaign not only to sabotage the project, but, also to give a good lesson to the North Korean company for being dedicated and helpful to Bangladesh is saving millions of dollars from import of hard rock.

Bangladesh government not only needs to patronize this extremely profitable and viable project, but even needs to go into fresh negotiations with Nam-Nam or the North Korean government in signing fresh agreements for exploration of more mining projects in the country. According to mining experts several more hard rock mines are already existing in the Northern region of Bangladesh, which will be able to help the country in stopping import of stones from abroad, thus saving billions of dollars each year. At the same time, government needs to identify vested interest groups within Energy Ministry and Petrobangla in order to not only protect the national interest but also to punish the culprits for their notorious roles.

Further harassment of the North Korean company will earn bad reputation for Bangladesh from the potential foreign investors. Nam-Nam deserves to be appreciated for completion of the MHMP despite series of harassments and non-cooperation from the Energy Ministry and Petrobangla.

BGMEA And RANGS Building Showing Disrespect To Law And Order of Bangladesh

BGMEA And RANGS Building Showing Disrespect To Law And Order of Bangladesh

BGMEA And RANGS, Two Building Structures In The Horizon Of Dhaka That Still Stand As A Sign Of Disrespect To Rule Of Law Of Bangladesh

BGMEA building and Rangs building - both should make their way to the public interest. If you left out these important signs of corruption and at the same time go out of your way to setup TAC, people will start questioning your motive. By this time, government should have learned that managing the public perception is very important.
Its appalling to see that both of these above mentioned structures still stands defying public interest.
Both should go down or make their way for the greater good of the public.
The first one, the BGMEA building seems like survived the Hatirjheel-Begunbari project, even though it has been reported how BGMEA people has shown disrespect to the law of the country with corrupt practices of the RAJUK people. Even though the alleged malpractice was done by one of the main business association of the country, they should not be given a free pass. This highly publicized corruption should give its way to the greater public interest. Government may give them some other land to build a new BGMEA building.
What do we want to do with this building? Tear down this one?
If that is creating major problem with the road construction, then yes, tear it down. Click Here to Read More...

Information by Bauani: Unable to Open Hard or USB Flash Drive with Windows Script Host Cannot Find Script File autorun.vbs Error

Information by Bauani: Unable to Open Hard or USB Flash Drive with Windows Script Host Cannot Find Script File autorun.vbs Error

My Windows Box Infected with virus!!! Yes, some time I need to use M$ Windowz for few of my clients. Any way, when I was looking for solution I found following article:

Unable to Open Hard or USB Flash Drive with Windows Script Host Cannot Find Script File autorun.vbs Error

In some situation especially when anti-virus program has cleaned, healed, disinfected or removed a worm, trojan horse or virus from computer, there may be error happening whenever users try to open or access the drive by double clicking on the disk drive icon in Explorer or My Computer window to try to enter the drive’s folder. The problem or symptom happens in hard disk drive, portable hard disk drive or USB flash drive, and Windows will prompt a dialog box with the following message:

Windows Script Host

Can not find script file autorun.vbs.

Sometimes you will be asked to debug the VBScript with error code of 800A041F - Unexpected ‘Next’.

or

Choose the program you want to use to open this file with:

In this case, the “Always use the selected program to open this kind of file” option is grayed out.

The symptom occurs because when autorun.vbs is created by trojan horse or virus. The virus normally loads autorun.inf file to root folder of all hard drive or USB drive, and then execute autorun.bat file which contains script to apply and merge autorun.reg into the registry, with possible change to the following registry key to ensure that virus is loaded when system starts:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
Userinit=userinit.exe,autorun.exe

Finally, autorun.bat will call wscript.exe to run autorun.vbs.

When antivirus or security software detected the autorun.vbs file as infected, the file will be deleted or removed or quarantined. However, other files (autorun.*) and registry value still referring to autorun.vbs, and this document no longer exists, hence the error when users double click to open a drive folder.

To correct and solve this error, follow this steps:

1. Run Task Manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del or right click on Taskbar)
2. Stop wscript.exe process if available by highlighting the process name and clicking End Process.
3. Then terminate explorer.exe process.
4. In Task Manager, click on File -> New Task (Run…).
5. Type “cmd” (without quotes) into the Open text box and click OK.
6. Type the following command one by one followed by hitting Enter key:

del c:\autorun.* /f /s /q /a
del d:\autorun.* /f /s /q /a
del e:\autorun.* /f /s /q /a

c, d, e each represents drive letters on Windows system. If there are more drives or partitions available, continue to command by altering to other drive letter. Note that you must also clean the autorun files from USB flash drive or portable hard disk as the external drive may also be infected.
7. In Task Manager, click on File -> New Task (Run…).
8. Type “regedit” (without quotes) into the Open text box and click OK.
9. Navigate to the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
10. Check if the value name and value data for the key is correct (the value data of userint.exe include the path which may be different than C drive, which is also valid, note also the comma which is also needed):

“Userinit”=”C:\WINDOWS\system32\userinit.exe,”

If the value is incorrent, modify it to the valid value data.

Actually I just ignored the section as I found no autorun.inf file any of my drives:

6. Type the following command one by one followed by hitting Enter key:

del c:\autorun.* /f /s /q /a
del d:\autorun.* /f /s /q /a
del e:\autorun.* /f /s /q /a

But I was wrong!!! In blank eyes no file was there, even enabling 'Show all hidden file' failed to display any autorun.inf file on drive root. Even command:

del c:\autorun.inf failed, returned 'autorun.inf not found!'.

Now that box is working again... Thanks to author of article above for this nice article. Original version of article can be found here. If I get some time, I will update the last steps for new users...

Happy Linuxing...
